Can I play amplified music or have a band/DJ play at my event?
Yes. If you are planning on having amplified music, a band or a DJ at your event, then you may need to obtain a Single Concert license from the Business Licensing Office. Just voice (i.e. Press Conference) would not require the license because it is not music. For amplified music/speech there are time restrictions for Downtown Parks & Squares - music is limited to 11:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. and one hour between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Public Assembly Facilities Division at 207-808-5400 can advise whether or not this license will be required.
