Sewer Main Relocation - Easement off of Riverside Street

Beginning July 7, 2021, the City’s contractor, Gorham Sand and Gravel, will be relocating a section of the Presumpscot North Main Interceptor along the easement which begins at Riverside St opposite to the Riverside Golf Course.  The project will move a section of the interceptor (originally constructed in 1964) away from Dole Brook.  This project will improve flow in Dole Brook and reduce infiltration of water into the interceptor.  The project includes the construction of two new rectangular manholes along the existing sewer main, 160 feet of 24-inch sewer main between the new manholes, removal of the existing manhole, and abandonment of the existing piping.  The project also includes protection of the stream bank and water quality during construction.  Temporary bypass pumping will be installed to maintain sewage flow throughout the project.  There will be no work in Riverside St and minimal impact to traffic which will only occur when trucks and equipment enter the easement.  Construction will be complete by September 2021.
