Absentee Voting Begins October 7 in Portland


Citizens can begin requesting absentee ballots by mail, phone or in person and vote absentee in person beginning October 7, 2019 in the City Clerk’s Office, Room 203, City Hall, 207-874-8677.  

Beginning October 15, people wishing to vote absentee in person can do so in the State of Maine Room on the 2nd floor of City Hall. Hours are 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. 

Election Day this year is November 5, 2019, and all polling places are open 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM. 

Important Voting Information

Residents may also call the City Clerk’s office to request an absentee ballot mailed to them or one can be requested online.  

On Thursday, October 31, 2019, only, the Clerk’s Office will remain open until 7:00 PM for the final day to request an absentee ballot and for in-person absentee voting at City Hall. 

Same day voter registration is allowed at polling places on Election Day. Citizens must provide proof of identity and residency.
