TRAFFIC ALERT: Brighton Avenue Utility Construction

traffic alert

NEUCO, the contractor for Unitil’s SURE project, has begun replacement of the gas mains and service lines in the area of Brighton Ave. Construction starts at Taft Ave and move towards Stevens Ave and will affect neighborhoods in-between as well. This project is expected to last through the construction season. Crews will be working from 7am to 7pm daily, with some overnight work.  Brighton Ave will always be at least one lane inbound and outbound at all times, while at times, the neighborhoods will be two lane alternating traffic. Parking will be affected in neighborhoods and will be posted the night before.

The Unitil SURE project, a 14-year project now in year nine, is modernizing the Portland area's gas infrastructure, making it more reliable and better able to meet the growing demand for natural gas in Maine.
