Portland Jetport to Host Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Forum

news alert

The Portland International Jetport and the Housing, Purchasing, and Public Works Departments of the City of Portland are offering an open house and workshop for small area companies interested in becoming a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) on April 3, 2019. One of the goals of the DBE program is to make small businesses aware of the opportunities available to them under federally assisted contracts. They will be joined by the State of Maine and Eastern Maine Development Corporation to assist participants with how and why to become a DBE.

The DBE Program is federally funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation to ensure non-discrimination in the award of federally assisted contracts, create a level playing field, remove barriers and help Maine DBE firms to compete successfully in the marketplace.

The workshop will be held on April 3, 2019, from 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM, with a 5:00 PM seminar on “How to Become a DBE” and a 6:00 PM seminar from the Maine Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC),on “How Maine PTAC Can Help You Sell to the Government.”

The event will be at the Italian Heritage Center, 40 Westland Ave, Portland, just off Congress Street and behind Westgate Shopping Center. Admission is free and there is no pre-registration.
