New Development Review Project Notices

250 Canco Road - New Development Review Project

To residents and property owners: Portland's Department of Public Works has submitted a Level II site plan application for the expansion of the Public Works complex at 250 Canco Road. The project has four phases. Phase 1 includes relocating 2 temporary salt sheds and creating a diesel fuel dispensing station. Phase 2 is for a 6,720 sf pole barn and Phase 3 is a parking lot for 41 vehicles. The final phase includes a 9,600 sf permanent salt shed and the removal of the temporary sheds. The property is primarily within the I-M zone and a map amendment is pending before the Council to rezone the rear parcel to I-M. The proposal is subject to review under the City's site plan ordinance and under State Stormwater Permit standards.

In accordance with the Portland Land Use Ordinance, notices of receipt of a Level II Site Plan application must be sent to property owners located within 500 ft. of the subject property (or 1,000 ft. if the project is a subdivision or map amendment for a site located within an Industrial Zone). This application will be reviewed administratively by City Staff. This is the only notice you will receive. A project and plan summary is available for viewing on the Citizen Self Service Portal (https://egweb.portlandmaine.gov/energovprod/selfservice), by referencing Plan Number PL-000400-2018. Written comments should be submitted to planningboard@portlandmaine.gov.
