325 St. John Street - Neighborhood Meeting Notice

Dear business owners and neighbors:

Please join us for a neighborhood traffic meeting to discuss the proposed new Dunkin' Donuts restaurant at 325 St. John Street, Portland, Maine and the associated requirement to implement a re-striping plan of St. John Street between the intersections of Congress Street and Park Avenue.  This is based on the City's previous determination - and confirmed during the site plan review process - that a reconfiguration of the travel lanes along this section of St. John Street would lessen the number of vehicle accidents and make the roadway safer.

As the applicant, Dunkin' Brands, Inc. is proposed to increase the number of vehicles entering/exiting this section of St. John Street and is therefore required to implement this re-striping plan as part of its Site Plan and Traffic Movement Permit review and approvals to mitigate existing and future safety issues.

The plan calls for the creation of a single through lane on either side of a center turn lane with appropriate lane striping at the existing traffic lights.  It will be a three-lane roadway instead of a four-lane roadway.  The change will be in how the roadway surface is painted, no other alterations to the roadway (roadway width, curbing, islands, sidewalks, etc.) are currently proposed.

Meeting Location:  King Middle School, 92 Deering Avenue, Portland, ME

Meeting Date:  Thursday, November 15, 20187

Meeting Time:  4:00 p.m.

If you have any questions, please call Plymouth Engineering, Inc. at (207)257-2071.

Sincerely,

Plymouth Engineering, Inc.
