The Department of Public Works would like to update you on the status and activities regarding the above referenced project. As a reminder, this project will separate the existing combined sewer in Woodford Street to a separate sanitary sewer and stormwater drain.
On Monday, March 27th, the City’s contractor, D&C Construction, will begin the installation of a new storm drain into Woodford Street at the intersection with Clifton Street. Clifton Street (Melrose to Woodford) will be closed to all but local resident traffic. Clifton Street will be closed for approximately 2 weeks at this time. Local residents will be able to access their driveways from Melrose Street.
Beginning Tuesday, March 28th, Woodford Street between Forest Avenue (specifically Grace Street) and Vannah Avenue will be closed to all but local resident traffic. Local residents will be able to access their driveways from Melrose Street or Grace Street. You will have access to driveways on a daily basis but may be asked to move your vehicle out of the driveway if the contractor will be working right in front of it for the day.
The work in Woodford Street will continue for the next several months as the contractor installs sewer, stormdrain, water and gas utilities.
Flaggers and representatives from the Portland Police Department will be onsite to assist with traffic flow as needed.
The work and traffic pattern variations will run 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Drivers are encouraged to utilize alternative routes during this period. The roadway will be re-opening for traffic evenings and weekends.
Portions of the road where the contractor is working will be posted as “No Parking” as necessary when construction activities warrant it. This is done to protect your vehicles and to make moving around the site safer for the contractor as there will be a lot of construction activity.
Trash and recycling pickup for all streets will remain the same on Mondays. Please make sure both trash and recycling are at your curb by 6:00 AM as collection times may vary due to the construction.
Mr. Peter Dubail of Public Works will be serving as the City’s Inspector and will be onsite daily. I apologize in advance for any inconveniences that this construction may cause and thank you for your patience during this period. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact myself at 874-8840 or catch Peter onsite during the day.
