Non-profit organizations wishing to seek grant funding from the Portland Economic Development Plan Implementation Program (PEDPIP for short) should be aware that the next round of applications are due March 31, 2017 at 3:00 PM. The total amount of funds available for this round of funding is $17,986. Applicants may apply for any amount up to $15,000
PEDPIP provides non-profits and the City with matching grants to assist with planning studies and other “soft” costs associated with implementing economic development projects and programs contained in the 2016-2017 Work Plan and in the larger Portland Economic Development Vision and Plan. PEDPIP does not fund “hard” costs for public infrastructure or private development projects. The Program guidelines provide information on activities eligible for funding from PEDPIP. These guidelines, along with the grant application, 2016-2017 Work Plan, and the Economic Development Vision and Plan, can be accessed on the City’s website at http://www.portlandmaine.gov/533/Economic-Development-Plan-Implementation.
Applications can be submitted online to the City of Portland’s Economic Development Department at firstname.lastname@example.org or a hard copy can be delivered to Room 308, Portland City Hall no later than 3:00 PM on Friday, March 31, 2017. The Portland Development Corporation, the City’s loan and jobs grant board, will review all qualified grant requests and approve the awardee(s).
The Portland Economic Development Plan provides a roadmap for Portland’s success with a strong focus on growing the economy, enriching the creative economy and supporting business. Developed collaboratively among the City of Portland, Portland Community Chamber, Creative Portland Corporation, and a task force representing many stakeholders in the private sector, the Plan was created in August 2011. The associated Work Plan is updated every two years. The current Work Plan is for 2016-2017.
