CDBG Funding Process for Portland Non-Profits Begins October 10

The federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is designed to help non-profit organizations start or expand innovative and creative programs that serve the needs of low-income Portland residents.

“It is my hope that we will receive innovative and creative applications for funding that seek to address the critical issues that are currently facing the city,” said City Manager Jon Jennings. “Over the years, I’m proud that we’ve funded a number of meaningful programs and projects that have had a major impact on our residents. I encourage new programs to apply this year so we can continue to have a competitive funding process.”

The City funded 17 programs and projects through the FY2016 funding cycle totaling more than $1.5 million.

Eligible programs include, but are not limited to:

Food programs
Shelter programs
Mental and substance abuse programs
Job training and job creation programs
Rehab of non-profit buildings
Street and sidewalk safety improvements
Community safety and engagement programs
English Language programs

New programs are encouraged to apply!

October 10, 2016: CDBG applications are released on the City’s website at: Apply CDBG.

October 11, 2016: Mandatory CDBG Applicant’s Meeting
5:30 pm Merrill Auditorium Rehearsal Hall
20 Myrtle Street, Portland (Located directly behind City Hall)

This meeting is mandatory for any organization wishing to apply for 2017-2018 CDBG funds. If you are considering a CDBG application, a minimum of one representative from your organization must attend this meeting.
